2014 Crop Year

November 25th, 2014

Wow what a wet year that was.  Pulse crops were most susceptible to the extra moisture.  Very common to have low lying fields flooded out. Any high quality crops in the bin now are commanding some premium prices pretty much across the board.  The strength in the US dollar has also boosted price for us here, north of the border.  Lets watch as the market evolves toward the holiday season.

Slightly above average yeilds but great quality is the story for this years lentil crop..Export sales and shipping have been near normal since harvest completion in early october

Finally A Bit of Snow

February 25th, 2012

Hate to harp about lack of moisture, since the floods of last year are not long ago, but boy it was a dry winter. A bit of snow will help but nothing is sweeter than some glorious spring rains to get us off to a great start.

Dry over western Sask and AB

August 6th, 2009

Just came back from a road trip to Alberta.  Very dry all the way from Calgary to MooseJaw.  We need to consider ourselves very lucky around here.

Here is to hoping….No Frost that is!

It is looking like a good crop out there.  Time to get counting those pods on watching that sky.  Like any year it is alot of work and little luck!  Good luck everyone!
